Cribyn and beyond - SOLD

Media:- oil on canvas.
Size:- 60 * 30 inches
Description:- This is a large painting of the Brecon Beacons which I was commissioned to create for a lovely couple to mark their engagement.
I wanted to capture the grandeur, scale and drama of this unique landscape and the way that the summits of Cribyn, Pen-y-Fan and Corn Ddu lead the eye to infinity and away into the clouds. The contrast between the warmth of the light and the strength of the shadows on the steep faces of these mountains serves to create a dramatic tension and a bold composition.

From Pen-y-Fan -SOLD

Media:- oil on canvas.
Size:- 60 * 30 inches.
Description:- My favourite view from the summit of Pen-y-Fan looking out towards Cribyn and beyond. It is always a welcome reward when you reach the summit and sit with your sandwiches!

Descent from Pen-y-Fan -NFS

Media:- oil on canvas.
Size:- 60 * 30 inches.
Description:- I enjoy the descent from Pen-y-Fan knowing that the ascent of Cribyn awaits me.

Towards Pen-y-Fan -NFS

Media:- oil on canvas.
Size:- 48 * 36 inches.
Description:- This painting of the Beacons depicts the view back towards Cribyn and Pen-y- Fan and was given to a family member. I wanted to focus on the scale of the landscape and the dramatic sweep of the mountain range. The Beacons have such a unique form and character, there is nothing quite like them. The day was a typical changeable Spring day with low cloud, blue sky and moments when the sun shone strongly to create distinct areas of warmth and shadow.
