Description: - Long empty, this is such an iconic cottage. It has been photographed and painted many times. You can feel the past seeping through the thick walls.

Description: - I saw this old shed the day after we had finished cycling the Old Ghost Road. I liked the way the bush seemed to be reclaiming it and decided I could use it as the basis for a composition.

Description: - I saw this tiny cottage the day after wefinished cycling the Old Ghost Road. I relocated the dead rabbit from a neighbouring fence. I think it added to the composition!

Description: - I saw this little shed and its dunny from a distance when I was cycling the Otago Rail trail. It was the play of shadow and light through the poplars that caught my attention. I just had to make a detour.

Description: - This white woolshed stopped me in my tracks. It was a typical Otago day. The whiteness of the building and its sharp architectural lines were enhanced by the brightness of the sun. I pared back the foreground of my painting and let the building dominate.

Description: - This uninhabited villa always makes me smile when I see it. Someone with a good sense of humour painted eyebrows and a smiling mouth on the front. I like to think this was once a happy home.
